Details

Unsurprisingly, Brenda’s life-

long dedication to her art has

earned her a bundle of accolades

almost as big as her voice.

Giving Back

Brenda has been involved in charity

work for a very long time.

She continues to make giving

her time and services a priority in

her life. In 1992, Brenda established

‘The Sistuh to Sistuh Awards’, an

organization that recognized and

honored other female vocalists

for their musical contributions in

the Bay Area. ‘Sistuh to Sistuh’

also presented honorary awards

to Grammy Award-winning artists

Rachell Ferrell and Kirk Franklin.

community work and musical

achievements in 1997, when her

home town of Oakland, California,

declared December 12 “Brenda

Vaughn Day”.’

In Japan and the United

States, Brenda has volunteered

for many charitable events and

organizations, including co-writing

and co-producing the song

“Touch” for the Sing for Darfur

Charity, a recording project

designed to create awareness of

the victims of genocide and other

atrocities in the Sudan.

Leading the Way

The fast-paced, creative melting

pot that is Tokyo has been

Brenda’s adopted home for 13

years, during which the talented

performer has worked her way to

the forefront of the Japanese music

industry. Brenda’s J-Pop pedigree

is astounding, having worked

with many top recording artists,

orchestras and entertainment

companies. Quite simply, Ms.

Vaughn delights in her role of

representing Black Music and her

culture in Japan.

In 2007, the Black Music

Association Academy of America

presented Brenda with a Living

Legend Award at the Bay Area

Black Music Awards ceremony.

Brenda was honored along with

ConFunkShun, Tony Toni Tone

and Narada Michael Walden.

Japan’s First Lady of Soul is an

award-winning vocalist, songwriter,

producer and music coordinator.

She is the founder and CEO of B.

International Entertainment LLC,

making her the go-to gaijin for any

local artists and companies looking

to shift down a gear into the soulful

realm of Gospel, R&B and Blues.

Brenda recently joined the

Shunsuke Kiyokiba “Flying Jet

Tour” and Kumi Koda’s “The

Universe Tour”.

Brenda is also the voice of

countless commercials and

soundtracks, including on the El

Grande Nissan car advertisement

singing “Goldfinger”; “Reveal the

World” from the movie soundtrack to

Higashi no Eden; the English version

of the hit Dounimo Tomaranai;

and the singing voice of Jackie from

the TV phenomenon The World of

Golden Eggs, among many others.
