Fragments in Operation: Toward a Counter-Archive is a solo exhibition by Herry Sutresna, presenting selected works of visual practice emerging from Bandung’s independent cultural ecosystem.

Through screenprints, posters, album covers, zines, merchandise, and socio-political campaign materials, the exhibition explores how images operate beyond aesthetic objects—as tools of communication, solidarity, circulation, and collective memory.

Hosted at Sub Store Tokyo in Koenji, Tokyo, the program also includes artist talks, independent publications, and community-based public sessions, opening a dialogue between independent cultural infrastructures across Asia.

Koenji, was chosen not merely as a venue, but as a meeting point between two independent cultural ecosystems in Asia—both shaped by underground music, self-publishing practices, DIY distribution networks, and everyday forms of resistance. Long associated with hardcore punk, noise, radical publishing, and grassroots political activity, Koenji provides a context that resonates directly with the collective infrastructures and visual culture that shaped these works in Bandung.
