Our avant-garde music party, held irregularly (but usually about twice every three months) at Shibasaki mod, is back! The next one will be on Thursday, July 23rd!
Our featured DJs for this edition are Tamotsu Mochida and Yasushi Morikawa.
Tamotsu Mochida is a writer known for his books INDUSTRIAL MUSIC FOR INDUSTRIAL PEOPLE!!! and Anata no Kikanai Sekai (The World of Music You Don't Listen To). Recently, he’s also been active as a YouTuber covering niche music. On top of that, he plays in the industrial band "Osorezan VIBRATION" and organizes various live shows and talk events—a truly multi-talented guy. Mochida has a fascinating approach to analyzing culture by linking it with the occult and various conspiracy theories, so you can definitely expect a deeply unique and unpredictable DJ set!
When I first met Yasushi Morikawa, he was the bassist for "Boso Hanto," a power trio full of raunchy humor. We actually shared a stage back then. I vividly remember thinking, "Wow, this is incredible," because even though everyone was using the exact same gear, the moment Boso Hanto plugged in, the sound got massively louder. Since leaving the band, Morikawa hasn't just played bass for multiple groups; he’s also been aggressively performing electronic music, including with his noise-techno unit "RT323." He also organizes tons of gigs and events himself—his energy always blows me away. For this event, he’s planning to do a live performance in addition to his DJ set, which is going to be amazing!
Since both of them seem to lean towards electronic sounds, I’m thinking of taking a slightly more organic approach for my own set. Stay tuned!
A live house/club with a café-bar, located a 1-minute walk from Shibasaki Station on the Keio Line. It also operates as a music shop selling cassette tapes, effectors and modular synthesisers.
The name 'mod' comes from the desire to 'modify' existing cultural and arts facilities such as live houses that rely on the old system, and to create a place where artists can gather and work easily. We want to continue to be an artist-first shop.
