●THE WORM
"A mutant hybrid of British theatrical, ritualistic, ambient, and folk music. *Pantilde* by THE WORM is an astonishing avant-garde folk fantasia—a work that offers a time-trip into a dreamlike pastoral world while retaining a tangible sense of reality."
*Pantilde*, the magical album by Cornwall-based avant-folk performance artist THE WORM, is a musical and oral-storytelling narrative depicting the daily life of an otherworldly Celtic village—a realm that feels ethereal and unearthly, yet remains rooted in reality. The music across this cohesive album is simultaneously strange yet accessible, fantastical and enchanting yet grounded in the earth. Musician Amy Lawrence—performing under the name THE WORM—sings while playing acoustic instruments such as cello, harp, recorder, and percussion in a ritualistic atmosphere; her rich vocals are often overdubbed, transforming into beautiful, rustic vocal ensembles. Through her voice, Lawrence weaves song-stories that depict the lives and landscapes of a mythical, mysterious village, as well as the relationship between humanity and the natural world. THE WORM is a talent akin to a mutation emerging from a musical lineage that includes Dorothy Carter, The Incredible String Band, Vashti Bunyan, Shovel Dance Collective, Bridget St John, Jessica Pratt, Kathryn Howe, Mary Lattimore, and Tristof & Fenywood. *Pantilde* is an astonishing avant-garde folk fantasia—a time-trip into a dreamlike pastoral world that nonetheless possesses a distinct sense of reality. The cover art, evoking the subterranean sprites of Celtic legend, was created by Lawrence; the title "Pantilde" refers to the name of the donkey in the photograph.

Formed in Bristol, UK, the band was active while foraging for mushrooms in the Welsh hills with bandmates.
