MARIKA HIRAGA (vo)

A talented vocalist leading the jazz scene with dazzling entertainment and solid vocal ability.

While studying English and American Literature at Komazawa University, she studied under Martha Miyake. She made her professional debut after winning the gold prize at the Asia Music Festival held in Hong Kong during her office lady days.

 
2001

 She released her first jazz standard collection, 'My Shining Hour.' Afterwards, she honed her skills in New York through voice training and sessions.

 

2003 Winner of the 19th Japan Jazz Vocal Award for Outstanding Vocal Performance.

 

2006

The album 'Faith,' featuring the trio of Eric Alexander (sax) and Harold Mavern (piano), earned a Gold Disc selection by Swing Journal and marked their breakthrough. It quickly attracted attention.

 

2007 Her collaboration with the Manhattan Jazz Quintet led by the genius David Matthews (p, arr) earned high praise as the new Bacharach standard and, following her previous work, earned the Swing Journal Gold Disc.

The album also received the highest honor for a domestically produced vocal album, the 41st (2007) Swing Journal Jazz Disc Award for Vocal Artist (Domestic Category).

 

2008

As a memorial album marking the 50th anniversary of Bossa Nova, they released the epic 'Batucada ~Jazz Bossa~', featuring a star-studded lineup led by Gil Goldstein (arr), AOR's Michael Franks (vocals), Marcos Valli (vocals), Phil Woods (sax), Kenny Garrett (sax), Randy Brecker (drums), and more. He won her third 'Swing Journal Gold Disc' and also received the '42nd Jazz Disc Awards for Vocal (Domestic Category)'.

 

2009

They released 'Sing Once More' as a memorial album marking the 40th anniversary of the Carpenters' formation.

 

2010

In January, received the Grand Prize at the 25th Jazz Vocal Awards hosted by Jazz World. she also received the 43rd Jazz Disc Awards for Vocal Performance (Domestic Category). she achieved the remarkable feat of winning the award for three consecutive years.

 

2011

Released 'Mona Lisa ~Tribute to Nat King Call~', a tribute to Nat King Cole. In the fall of the same year, three of his past works were released in Taiwan, and the following summer, she was invited to perform at the Taipei International Jazz Festival 2012.

 

2012

On the album 'Things with the Duke Ellington Orchestra,' a historic big band with over 80 years of history, she took on her first full big band album, performing with a historic big band. In November 2013, during the Duke Ellington Orchestra's Japan tour, they performed together at the Sapporo Civic Hall performance.

 

2013 She participated as a vocalist in the ballet program 'Penguin Cafe 2013' by the New National Theatre Ballet. Performed with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. In August, he released his first live DVD, 'Emotion ~Live at STB139~.'
 

In addition to performances at hall concerts and jazz festivals, she is active in a wide range of fields, including radio personality and writing columns for music magazines.

 

TOMOMI FUKUI (p)

While attending Kanagawa University, she was active as an Electone player. She switched to piano in 1988. Aspiring to jazz, she studied under Hideo Ichikawa, one of Japan's leading pianists. She made a name for herself as a rising pianist in live houses near Tokyo, performing as a sideman and in her own unit. Currently, her live performances include a nationwide duo tour in Japan with Mari Nakamoto, one of Japan's leading vocalists, and actively performing at various jazz festivals.

A Jazz Cafe where you can enjoy the Jazz music, enjoy our delicious Burgers and Sweets or if you just want to read a book.

We offer veriety of delicious foods and drinks where we have passion from NewYork which we used to live back in the day. 

On Tuesdays and wednesday are Jazz Live performance which our fascinating artist perform amazing Jazz Music. 

This year is our 15th Aniversary and we are grateful to have our customers that has supported us all these years.
