Stringraphy is the unique in the world.
It is a special harp like original instrument consisting
only of silk strings and paper cups.
You can experience the strange and curious music of another world.
Program: "Spring" by A. Vivaldi, "Hanamizuki" by You Hitoto, "Memory of the Forest" by Kazue Mizushima (original music), "Let it go" from "Frozen", "Gegege-no Kitaro (Japanese animation song)" etc.
-What is Stringraphy?
-Kazue Mizushima, composer, formed Studio Eve in 1992 with Midori Yaegashi and started to create STRINGRAPHY works. She created indoor sound installations that utilize a multitude of "string telephones" (silk threads attached to paper cups). These installations transform the entire performance space into an immense acoustic "harp" whose strings of criss-crossing thread create a geometric web where both performer and audience jointly become part of the resonating chamber. Studio Eve has focused on works for Stringraphy Ensemble since 1996. Three to five performers play a wide variety of musical repertoire including original pieces, Gagaku (Japanese ancient music), western classic and popular music as well as contemporary music.
* Stringraphy is a coined word combining “strings” and “graphics”.

Daitabashi station is on the Keio Line 2stops from Shinjuku. (Only local trains stop there) When you come out of the station gate ,turn left and go up the stairs then cross over the pedestrian crossing to a convenience store then turn right and follow the road along the railway. After the road curves , you can see a rail crossing. Our studio is the left side just before rail crossing.
