■Deformer (PRSPCT Recordings) from NL

Mike Redman’s long running project Deformer breaks down musical boundaries since the early 90’s as one of the pioneers of Dutch Jungle music and produced ‘Breakcore’ and ‘Crossbreed’ before the terms even existed. They’ve achieved legendary status because of their continuous effort to reinvent themselves and un-exhausting international performanc-es. Their sound fuses different genres into a venomous blend of electronic mayhem, wrapped in a claustrophobic atmosphere of horror. Deformer has collaborated with numer-ous artists like Rap giants Public Enemy, remix hero 6blocc, Breakcore pioneer Bong-Ra, Chino XL, Predator, famous American horrorfilm studio Full Moon Features and many oth-ers. They’ve killed renowned mega festivals like Lowlands, Outlook, Q-base and served the international underground scene along the way. They’ve delivered street favourites like ‘The Possessor’, ‘Slasher’, ‘Diabolical’, ‘Hybrid’, ‘Freaqks’ and recently ‘Counter Carnage’ to name only a few. Deformer attracts a wide audience because of their hybrid productions and steady production quality. Together with Bong-Ra, Deformer has formed ‘Voodoom’, a side project that has successfully reanimated the hardcore Jungle sound. Their debut is al-ready considered a classic. Deformer has a tight fan-base and influenced many artists throughout the years.

Deformer a.k.a マイク・レッドマンは90年代初頭から長きに渡り、オランダ・ジャングル・ミュージックを牽引してきたアーティストの一人である。 そのサウンドは凶悪、恐怖に包まれた騒乱であり、あらゆるジャンルを取り入れた毒壺のような音楽である。

Deformerは、ダブステップの筆頭 6bloccや、ブレイクコアの開拓者Bong-Raなどと共に世界中のアンダーグラウンド・シーンでの活動を行い、2012年にはPRSPCT RVLTから “Hybrid EP”をリリース。そのハイブリッドなサウンドによって幅広い視聴者を魅了し、 ハードコア・ガバ・ダブステップを融合させたジャンル”Defcore”を作り上げた。

2015年にはBong-Raとのサイドプロジェクト”Voodoom”を始動。圧倒的なステージパフォーマンスを見せつけ、さらに記憶に新しい2016年11月にPRSPCT RVLTからAKIRA、DJ ProducerらをRemix陣に加えた"Counter Carnage EP"をリリースし、今までのスタイルにTerrorの要素を加えた集大成的な作品となっている。昨年12月にオランダで行われたPRSPCT XL24で先の最新EPのお披露目となった映像は必見の価値がある。

MCとしてもDominator2016に盟友AKIRA率いるHavocステージでマイクを握りフロアを沸かせている。デザイナーとしても自身のアートワークや、ステージ用の特殊衣装の制作も自身で手掛け、恐ろしいまでもマルチクリエイターぶりを発揮している。

そして現在にわたりDeformerはタイトなファンを牽引し、今もなお多くのアーティスト、リスナー達に多大な影響を与えている異端な存在である。
