The Locus of Modern Music / P.S.F. Records

Hideo Ikeezumi, the founder of P.S.F. Records and who since the 1980s played a key role in promoting Japan's most radical music, passed away on February 27, 2017 from ALS. He was 68 years old.

The music that he chose to champion was never music which offered an easy response to its era. Rather, he continued to promote unforced musics which stubbornly followed their own rhythms, unearthing rich new seams of Japanese avant-garde music in the process. The music he released would come to have a great influence on psychedelic, improvised, noise and avant-garde musicians around the world.

This exhibition looks back on Hideo Ikeezumi's work with P.S.F. Records and the Modern Music shop, through the medium of the over 200 CDs and LPs released by the label, and the magazine he published, G-Modern.

80年代より日本の最も先鋭的な音楽を紹介し続けてきた生悦住英夫氏が、2017年2月27日、筋萎縮性側索硬化症（ALS）のために死去しました。享年68歳。

時代や状況に求められた回答のような音楽ではなく、自己の律の赴くままに奏でられた自然体の音楽を世界へと発信し続け、日本の前衛音楽の新たな鉱脈を見出し、世界中のサイケデリック、即興、ノイズ、アヴァンギャルド・シーンに多大な影響を及ぼし続けてきたP.S.F. Records / Modern Music 生悦住英夫の仕事を、200タイトルを超えるCDやLPのジャケット、G-Modernの展示などにより振り返ります。
