A solo performance by Finnish singer-songwriter Markus Perttula from Sans Parade!

Sans Parade are inspired by the dystopian present. The Finnish trio creates immersive songs riddled with literary quotes and sci-fi sayings. The songs are mixed with pious attention to artistic detail within an ethereal popular music setting to provide an exploration of human emotions and behaviour in a world heading towards machine-learning and singularity.

The third album Fugue State originates from a feeling of misplacement, memory loss and crumbling identity. It highlights the human need for shelter and belonging in order to survive and thrive. Fugue State is a collection of contrapuntal voices that build and amplify and finally shatter into an ocean of noise.

Sans Parade’s main server lies on a secluded farm in southern Finland, where producer Jani Lehto combs through audio files sent by Pekka Tuppurainen from Stockholm and Markus Perttula from Helsinki. Originally, the band started in 2009, when singer-songwriter Markus met disillusioned electro pop artist Jani who asked him to join in a project that would draw from baroque pop and contemporary indie rock. Markus already had a fitting band name in mind for the introverted but exuberant soundscape, so work began immediately with Jani and his associate producer/experimental jazz musician Pekka.
