マージナルコンソートは1997年にスタートした集団即興の為のプロジェクト。この即興は個人が音を発するという衝動から始まり、その発音の継続が音に変化を与える。音の変化はメンバーで異なり、その異なる音が偶然に重なり音の形が生まれる。この音の形に音楽を感じた人がいればその人に音楽が生まれたのだろう。それは５分間だけかもしれないが。（今井和雄）

Marginal Consort is a project for collective improvisation established in 1997. This improvisation initiates with a drive to emit sound individually, and the prolonged emitted sounds give changes to sounds. Such changes may differ among members, but this differences overlap by chance and give a sound form. If one feels music within this sound form, s/he may be happened to have music whether it to last only 5 minutes long. (Kazuo Imai)
