About KAN (1962 – 2023)
KAN, born Kimura Kan, was a chart-topping Japanese singer–songwriter, best known for his 1990 megahit “Ai wa Katsu”, which sold over 2 million copies and took home the prestigious 33rd Japan Record Award . With a career spanning from the 1980s to the 2010s, he released more than 30 singles and 15 studio albums, selling over 4.6 million records. His warm vocals, uplifting songwriting, and cross-genre appeal—from new wave to pop rock—made him a beloved figure in Japanese music.
