" BLUE ENCODER VOL.5 "
-----
artist&time table
A To Fade In (17:00–17:25)
Their music evokes decadent scenery and desolate inner landscapes, constructing a unique world with at times eccentric ensembles. Although the band themselves may not have realized it, there is a distinctly Japanese sensibility running through their sound. They never lose their melodic spirit, while embodying the essence of a progressive three-piece band.
Cycling In Marmalade (17:40–18:05)
In the present day, they perform neo-acoustic music with striking confidence—a miracle in itself. Their 2023 release Who’s He? dressed their sound in refreshing tones while still carrying shadows of the heart and a gritty punk spirit. The vocals remain consistently pleasant, with possible influences from The Smiths and Prefab Sprout. Having upcoming collaborations with Hideki Kaji and Keiichi Sokabe, their future is overwhelmingly exciting.
unsnuff (18:20–18:45)
“Fear the relief, Yearn to anxiety.” His lyrics, which re-examine the very notion of “comfort,” stir deep emotions in listeners. His live performances, like the weaving of delicate threads, are breathtaking and thrilling. Yet unsnuff’s music remains overwhelmingly serene and majestic. Originally gaining attention through his internet-based activity before starting live performances, the project has since built a strong following, with many awaiting new work. This marks their first live show in a year—one not to be missed.
PLOTOLEMS (19:05–19:30)
A band steeped in horror, dark, and alternative aesthetics—the roar of guitars, ensemble gimmicks, and occasional unsettling electronic noise create a digital rock atmosphere and an ominous world. In May they released their first mini-album, with the track Rensa (“Chain”) drawing attention for both its addictive qualities and its frightening music video. Vocalist Sakuremu, blessed with an innocent-sounding voice, is also a horror enthusiast, which makes the fear feel all the more real. For this show, they’ll be joined by drummer mie (from Kinyou no Yoru), promising an aggressive performance.
Acidclack (Solo Set) (19:45–20:10)
Drawing on indie rock, Madchester, and beyond, Acidclack continues to evolve while retaining its essential “acid” allure. Active both as a band and in solo sets, the solo format features improvisational performances using modular synths—expressive, deeply human, and at times overwhelmingly aggressive as the sound is sliced apart. With appearances at Fuji Rock in both 2021 and 2022 still fresh in memory, Acidclack’s pursuit of trance born out of love for music is something to experience live.
Michiganized (20:25–20:50)
A solo project by Aoi Yumi. For August 31, they will appear with a special band set, presenting the full spectrum of Michiganized—from shoegaze-inspired walls of sound to solid electro grooves. Though the artist may not be conscious of it, their music bears an unexpected affinity with the soundtracks of 1990s–2000s anime, video games, and even the singing styles of voice actors.
