This is a last-minute announcement! A meeting between an artist crossing borders currently visiting Japan from Australia and a stumbling guitarist who advocates for poor music. A rare night weaving truly free music.

Nikki Heywood biography /
She is a Sydney-based interdisciplinary artist working across dance, performance, writing and live art. Nikki’s practice includes devising, direction and choreography as a solo performer, in collective creation and collaboratively generated projects, running skills based workshops for students and emerging practitioners, assisting the creative process of others as a mentor and dramaturg. Co-curator of regular platforms for improvised performance Rushing for the Sloth and Whip It in Sydney for over a decade. As 2005 Recipient of Rex Cramphorn Scholarship (NSW Ministry of the Arts) Nikki undertook research of collaborative performance practice in Europe and Australia and intensive workshop with Goat Island Company of Chicago in Cork, Ireland.
Awarded Doctorate of Creative Arts in practice-based research 2016, thesis title- Undoing Discomfort: being real/becoming other in an embodied performance practice, University of Wollongong, with commendations.

Kawol SamarQandi biography /
He was born in the port town on October 7. As a child, the first music he listened to was the noise of shortwave radio and hymns. He began writing poetry at the age of 6. He began to playing guitar and singing at the age of 12. He began composing at the age of 14. He joined the fringe of the Tokyo new wave music scene at the age of 17. Then he has performed as a odd singer-songwriter in a variety of venues. Mid-20s, he wandered about North Africa (Tunisia) and the Mediterranean region and studied Arabic traditional music under Mr. Ali Sriti. After performing theater solo concert, festivals, TV appearances, etc. There, returned to Japan, he did a lot of commercial work (e.g. “City pop”) as a guitarist, arranger, composer, lyric writer and vocalist in recording studios, on the airwaves, and on tour. In 1997, he launched his private label PLAKA for EARDRUM. in the new century, he began his lifework of creating non-nationality “poor” music by improvising with only his faltering guitar and trembling voice. And he collaborates with musicians across borders (sometimes face to face, sometimes on the Internet) to make works and to perform in various places. In 2007, he formed REFUGEES with Mary Meacha Goldfish. In August 2021, Ramble Records released vinyl record album “silence, notes and structures 1”. In April 2024, he was invited by the Sharjah Art Foundation to perform solo and REFUGEES concerts and workshops in UAE. Same month, Ramble Records released CD album “Noli me tangere”. In 2025, he will release a brand new vinyl record album called “energeia” recorded in a historical place in Sharjah, UAE. And also, He and Meacha are scheduled to perform in Athens, Greece in October.
The will to keep listening attentively to the world through the austerely and beautiful silences, notes and structures of improvisation.

プロフィール：
ニッキー・ヘイウッド – Nikki Heywood / ヴォイス、身体表現
1979年以来豪州シドニーを拠点としてダンス、パフォーマンス、執筆、ライブアートなど様々を超越横断しつつ活動するアーティスト。その実践には、ソロパフォーマーとしての創作、演出、振付、集団創作や共同制作プロジェクトへの参加、学生や新進実践者向けのスキルベースワークショップの運営の他、メンターやドラマトゥルクとして他者の創作プロセスを支援することも含まれている。また10年以上にわたり即興パフォーマンスの定期プラットフォーム「Rushing for the Sloth」と「Whip It」の共同キュレーターを務める。
2005年、レックス・クランプホーン奨学金（NSW州芸術省）を受賞し、欧州とオーストラリアにおける共同パフォーマンス実践の研究、並びにアイルランド・コークでのシカゴのゴート・アイランド・カンパニーとの集中ワークショップを実施。
2016年、実践に基づく研究による創造芸術博士号をウーロンゴン大学より授与、表彰。（論文タイトル：身体化されたパフォーマンス実践における「不快さの解体 - 真実であること / 他者となること」）

カヲル・サマルカンディ – Kawol SamarQandi / ギター、声
初めて耳を傾けた「音楽」は短波ラジオを通して聞こえて来たノイズの波。12歳でギターと歌を、14歳で作曲を始め、現代音楽から民謡まであらゆる音楽に浸りつつ風変わりなS&SWとして活動開始。
1989年「アラブ古典音楽とその楽器ウード研鑽の為」と称して北アフリカはチュニジアに降り立ち、そのまま地中海周辺にて1年程遊学。帰国後別名義にて数々のアーティスト達とのレコーディング、コンサートツアー、メディア出演にギタリスト、アレンジャー、そしてサウンドプロデューサーとして参加、また作詞作曲家として作品の提供を行い映画音楽も手掛ける。
1997年、自らの仕事の器としての自主レーベルPLAKA for EARDRUMを立ち上げ、21世紀に入り商業音楽制作からは離れて辿々しいギターとモノローグの様な声のみによる即興演奏から生まれる「貧しい音楽」に専念。内外の気鋭の音楽家達とのコラボレーション、ソロ、デュオなど各国のレーベル及び自主レーベルよりLP、CD、そしてデジタルアルバムのリリース多数。
