Haruyuki Suzuki
Born in Tokyo. Winner of the 16th Irino Prize for "Double Key." His works have been performed at Gaudeamus International Music Week (Amsterdam), Les Inouies (Bordeaux), Experimental Intermedia, Music From Japan (New York), Suntory Summer Festival (Tokyo), and other venues. His works have been broadcast on NHK-FM, CS Radio Sky, Radio France, Deutsche Radio Berlin, DRS2, Radio Canada, and other networks. In 2000, he performed his first live silent film performance featuring electronic music, which inspired him to pursue live electronic performances of music alone, separate from films. His collaborations with other genres include Gekidan Tensai Hotel's "Blind World," portB's "Wasteland" and "Circulating Everyday Life" (Roppongi Striped House Museum), and "After the Feast: After the Symposium" (Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum). His film credits include "The Imperfect Two," "Recipe for Resurrection," "Far Away from Futaba," "Chocolietta," "Prison Circle," and "See You Again," among others.
Masamichi Kinoshita
Born in 1969 in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. After gaining experience in wind orchestras and hard rock, he studied music at Tokyo Gakugei University. He also performed in free jazz, group improvisation, and comedy bands. He has been selected for the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award, the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Performing Arts Creation Encouragement Award, and the Japan Society for Contemporary Music New Artist Award, among other awards. His current activities focus on three pillars: composing on commissions and in collaboration with various organizations and individuals, planning cutting-edge concerts in collaboration with outstanding performers, and improvising with unconventional electrical equipment.
In his compositions, he aims to create spaces in which the performer's subtle physicality can be felt amidst oppressive silence within a strictly controlled time structure. In his concert planning, he works closely with performers to create concerts that offer a sense of cutting-edge and rich musical expression. He also performs electrical improvisations under the name "Electricity Music" with Ikeda Takumi and Tai Tomoki, and interacts with a variety of other performers, concentrating on listening to the momentary changes in sound.
In recent years, he has composed and premiered around 20 pieces a year, mainly chamber music. He also writes fairy tales, which he reads and performs himself. Many of his works and performances have also been released, mainly on the Ftarri label.
