Ruike Shinpei

Born on April 27, 1976 in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture.
When he was 10 years old, he discovered the trumpet in a brass band. When he was in high school, he was exposed to the music of Miles Davis and opened his eyes to jazz. After graduating from high school, he played trumpet for six years in the Maritime Self-Defense Force Band.

After retiring from the Self-Defense Forces, he made his major debut as a member of the jam band group "urb" from Sony Jazz in 2004. He has attracted attention by performing at the Thai International Jazz Festival.
After the hiatus of "URB", he presided over his own unit "Shinpei 4 Piece Band". The first album "DISTORTED GRACE" was released in 2009. The second album "Sector b" was released in 2011 and produced by Naruko Kikuchi. After that, after a member change, it became "RS5pb (類家心平 5 piece band)" and released the live album "4 AM" from T5Jazz Records in 2013. In 2016, he released his 2nd album "UNDA" as RS5pb. In 2018, he performed at the "OCT-LOFT Jazz Festival" held in Shenzhen, China. The sound enthused many young people in China. In 2020, they released their third album "RS5pb" bearing the band's name.
In addition, the album "Lady's Blues" was released in 2019, which contains live acoustic jazz performances by the quartet. It was recorded live at the long-established jazz club "Body & Soul" in Tokyo.
In 2014, he released an album on APPLO SOUNDS with the duo unit "N40°" with Nakajima Kakuji, who is also the pianist of "RS5pb". Even now, he regularly performs and is active as his life's work.

In the jazz-themed anime "Sakamichi no Apollo", he was in charge of playing the trumpet in the play. In the live-action version of the movie made later, he played the trumpet as Jun's brother. In addition, he has participated in "Kikuchi Naruko Dubsectet", "DCPRG", "WUJA BIN BIN" led by Keitaimo of "Beat Crusaders", and "LUNA SEA" guitarist SUGIZO. He has also participated in recordings by artists such as Gen Hoshino and Sakura Fujiwara. He has also performed with veteran jazz musicians such as Yosuke Yamashita, Fumio Itabashi, Takeo Moriyama, and Isao Suzuki.
